These are Chocolate Chip Cookies on steroids!
They are a whole ‘nother level of chocolate chip tastiness.
I originally found this recipe in the newspaper long ago, and every time I make it, I get raves and requests for the recipe.
As a side bar to this recipe, I discovered a campaign that Cheerios recently launched to help the declining bee populations. I love a forward thinking company! Check out the campaign here and you can get more news here.
Here’s how you make them:
First you’ll add 1 cup Sugar, 1 cup Brown Sugar, 2 sticks softened Butter, 1 tsp Vanilla Extract, and 2 eggs.
Mix until combined.
Now add 2 cups Flour, 1 cup Oats, 1 tsp Baking Soda, 1/2 tsp Baking Powder, 1/2 tsp Salt.
Once that’s combined you’ll now have to hand-stir in 4 cups Honey Nut Cheerios Cereal, 1/2 cup chopped Walnuts or Pecans, 1/2 cup flaked Coconut, and 1 cup Chocolate Chips.
I like to chop my nuts in my mini-food processor.
This is a stiff batter, so you may have to use your hands to get it all combined together.
Form the balls, flatten slightly, and put onto parchment or a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 9-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
You now have deliciousness that you can ALMOST pass off for a “breakfast cookie” since you are now eating oatmeal and Cheerios!
And now to make it easy, here is a printable recipe!
